Founded with purpose and love.

Salah Publishing House was founded by Dr. Julia Theresa Kanhai, an author, educator, and advocate for mental and emotional health.

Inspired by her son, Salah Ethan Shadood, who survived a life-changing accident at age three, the company is dedicated to helping children and families understand emotions, build resilience, and find hope through storytelling.

Every page we publish is rooted in empathy, honesty, family, growth, and the belief that every story can end well.

Stories that heal. Lessons that last.

Every story we share begins with truth and ends with hope.

From tornados and surgeries to bullies and screens, our tales transform hardships into opportunities for empathy, courage, and growth, reminding families that healing begins with a single story.

Mr Petamber Persaud

Guyana's prominent writer and literary activist, Producer of TV show called 'Oral Traditions' and Chairman of the Guyana National Library Committee.

"I understand the pain (and pleasure) it took to put this series of books together... which will appeal to children and teachers, for it is so written to invite the reader into a narrative and moral. This is edutainment at its best."

Dr Michaela McRae

Guyana's leading psychiatrist with over 40 years of clinical experience in working with families.

"I loved everything about [Book 1] and find it extremely relevant and useful in today's increasingly selfish, cruel, and dangerous world. Teaching children to be thoughtful, considerate, kind and caring will definitely bring some much-needed hope to a world ravaged by so much unnecessary hate and misplaced intolerance..."

Mrs Bibi Shariman Neshaw Ali

Educator with 50 years experience, Specialist in Children's Literature at the University of Guyana, Mother and Grandmother.

“[In Book 2]...the author has brilliantly demonstrated the themes of Bullyism and Teamwork.... I particularly liked that the Teacher Resources highlighted the personal and educational values of the book, which is a core objective of Children’ Literature.”

Dr Silvana Sosa Clavijo

Mother of two young boys, Author, Ph.D. in Humanities, and Expert in international development.

“[Book 4] beautifully weaves a journey of gratitude, humility, and cultural awareness... the story becomes a valuable resource for fostering empathy, inclusion, and emotional intelligence in homes, schools, and healing spaces around the world.”

Irshaad Shaffeeullah - M.D.

an American Board-Certified Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist with over 30 years of experience working with multicultural patients.

“Salah and the Addictive iPad introduces an important conversation about managing technology overuse. The story models healthy boundaries, an intervention for preventing excessive screen time. By focusing on strategies that help children, the storyline supports positive mental health development.”

Dr. Aswathy Bose

Clinical Pharmacologist with 5 years of experience.

"Salah's surgery adventure shows how brave he is with help from his family! Hospitals are for helping and healing - what a sweet story! I think kids will love reading about Salah's courage and the caring doctors and nurses around him!"

Endorsed by parents, educators, and healthcare experts worldwide.
